COURSES in a range of ancient crafts, including glass work and stone masonry, are on offer in the Yorkshire Dales.

An open day to launch the training courses was held in the grounds of Thorp Perrow Arboretum, near Bedale, on Wednesday.

The courses, which are offered by the company Heritage Craft Alliance, are described as being ideal for families with children, as well as skilled craftspeople and enthusiasts.

Workshops and taster sessions were held throughout the open day.

Glenn Young, managing director of Heritage Craft Alliance, said: “It is really a relaunch of the company with a view to developing the training centres and expanding next year.”

The company runs courses in a range of crafts including wattle and daub and green woodwork.
