TWO developers were so impressed by a rendering system that they have gone into business offering it to others.

Dean Wilson and Matthew Bell run Belson Homes, a growing building and property development firm in Northallerton.

They hired a sub-contractor from West Yorkshire to render a house they were renovating and were so impressed by the technology used that they invested more than £20,000 in setting up North Yorkshire Render Solutions.

Key to its success is special machinery that applies a range of durable weatherproof coatings to exterior walls in a fraction of the time taken by hand rendering.

Mr Bell said: “A four-bedroom home that might have taken two weeks to render solely by hand can be completed in just four days by us.”

The coatings are also tinted in one of 36 colours which means no painting is required.

Using techniques and materials that originated in Spain, but which have been refined to cope with the British climate, NYRS backs its work with a tenyear guarantee.

Mr Wilson said: “We’re the only firm offering this service in this part of the region, so we’re hopeful we’ve spotted a niche for a top-quality service across North Yorkshire, Teesside and South Durham.”

NYRS has initially taken on three staff, but plans rapid expansion with multiple teams. It is headed by Mr Wilson’s father, Peter, who has 30 years’ experience in the trade, but took voluntary redundancy from Severfield- Reeve, the Thirsk-based steel firm, late last year.
