RUNNER Karl Watson is back with his family after travelling thousands of miles to take part in a charity marathon.
Karl, a gym member from Stokesley Leisure Centre, flew to New York to take part in the world’s largest marathon earlier this month.
The 38-year-old, who lives in Stokesley and trains three times a week at the centre, decided to enter the marathon in memory of his sister Debi who died earlier this year after a seven year battle against Hodgkin’s disease.
"The Macmillan Nurses were a huge support to Debi," he said.
"I wanted to do something to raise money to say a big thank you to them from myself and the rest our family and contribute towards future support for other families in similar circumstances."
Karl completed the New York marathon in four hours and nine minutes and has so far raised nearly £6,000 for the Macmillan Nurses.
