Darlington Dog Show sparkles in North Yorks

A PREMIER canine show held in the region has attracted thousands of visitors including entrants from abroad.

The three day Darlington Dog Show held at Newby Hall, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, attracts great interest.

This year there was also judges from Australia, Holland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Spain for the show which is a qualifier to Crufts.

Sarah Allsopp, vice chairwoman of the Darlington Dog Show Society, said: "Over the three days of the show we have had 8,200 dogs here from all over the country.

"We have entries from across the country and even some from abroad at the show.

"It has been a very happy show and it’s gone extremely well. We’re delighted with the weather and it’s great place to hold the show here.

"We’ve also paid for a marquee for breeders with vulnerable breeds, where dog numbers are low, to come over."

The supreme dog at the show was a white haired fox terrier called Ruby owned by Andrew Goodsell, of Northamptonshire.

This was the fifth year the show has been at Newby Hall after it left Darlington and this year it was promoting responsible dog breeding with the Kennel Club.

There was also a large selection of trade stands and visitors saw a high standard of entrant to the competitions.
