CHARITY fundraisers trekking from Glasgow to Reading are seeking kindhearted locals who will let them camp in the region on their land on route.
Steve Blethyn and Paddy Davies are to do the 479.6 mile route to raise funds for two charities to aid sick youngsters.
They are to pass through Teesside and North Yorkshire along the way over the ten day event which is on March 22 to April 1 next year.
The two security officers for Foster Wheeler are travelling between the company’s offices based in Teesside and North Yorkshire along the way.
Mr Blethyn, 44, said: "We’ve called the walk Another Long Way Down after the film and we aim to do it over ten days.
"We’re collecting for the Children’s Hospital Association, in Scotland, and once over the border we’re collecting for Rays of Sunshine children’s charity.
"It’s going to be a bit of shock to do it but I do mountaineering and we’ll do some training before hand.
"We’re looking for people with land or pubs who will let us camp out on their land along the way.
"We’ll be getting to places on the route fairly late and setting off again fairly early and it’s for a good cause."
They arrive at Peterlee, County Durham, on March 25, and they travel to Thirsk, North Yorkshire, the next day before heading to Leeds.
Anyone who can help can contact the duo on 0759-028-7289 or www.steveblethyn.co.uk.
