Not Rio, but Le Cateau

AFTER weeks of preparations, children have enjoyed a packed day of singing, music and dancing.

Le Cateau Primary School, in Catterick Garrison, held its first ever carnival on Wednesday. The day started with a parade around local streets. Children and parents then enjoyed a performance by the school’s steel pan band.

This was followed by dancing from the Nepalese children and performances by the North Tyneside Steel Band.

School spokeswoman Beki Bulmer said: “Every single child in the school has had a brilliant time. All the children from age three to the 11-year-olds about to leave us dressed up and had something to do.”
