Tickets for this year's popular Dales music concert The Barn That Rocks sold out in just five hours.

Organiser Peter Fall, who for one day of the year turns his farm at Patrick Brompton, near Bedale, into a concert venue, says he is overwhelmed by the response.

So far the concerts, which he launched over 13 years ago, have raised more than £125,000 for charitable causes close to the hearts of Peter and his family, particularly the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Friends of the Friarage Hospital.

Because of fire regulations the farm can only cater for 800 people and tickets have been in high demand in the past. But this year the speed of the sales proved unprecedented. Tickets were available from Grazing Nook Farm, the Food Weighouse in Bedale, and Gilsan Sports in Leyburn.

Peter said: “To say that I am flabbergasted with what happened is an understatement. I knew there was quite a pressure but nothing like this. People were queueing along the pavement at 7am so they could secure a ticket.

“All the wristbands were sold in just five hours. I just want to thank everyone who bought a ticket, it’s a real tribute for everyone involved that there is such a terrific amount of interest. Unfortunately we are severely restricted in the numbers we can take and I am really sorry for those that have missed-out this time.”

The sell out has also given Peter a boost at a time when he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, which was diagnosed last year. He says after being on hormone and chemotherapy tables for over nine months the tumour has shrunk, and he is now about to start four weeks of intensive radiotherapy.

He added: “I have been told that this will be rough but I will get there. The Barn That Rocks and the huge support we have had from people will get me through this and I am really looking forward to the concert on June 1.”

He has even revealed he’s started making plans for next years Barn That Rocks to be held on June 7, 2025.

Peter says this year’s line-up includes new band, Electric Sheep, The Rockin Replicants, the awesome Stax and the fantastic Bang, Bang, Bang.
