A special event is being held later this month to reveal the line-up for this year's Mayfest.

The festival, Richmond’s gateway to summer, will feature three days of song, dance, music and storytelling.

It will run from May 3 to 6, and is a registered charity run by a group of trustees with Gill Page of Medieval Music in the Dales at its helm.

Now in its third year, the festival is growing fast, and to help with the expansion, a Reveal Appeal will be held in the Station Café Bar, Richmond, on Thursday, March 14, from 7pm. Tickets cost £10.

The programme for this year’s MayFest will be revealed to guests with some of the participating musicians playing at the event.

These include the Ran Tanners, with folk tunes from Durham’s finest pair of strolling musicians playing fiddle and squeezebox and pipe and drums, plus sea shanties.

Also entertaining guests will be Richmond’s Pellingmans’ Saraband, two of the UK’s finest early music players, performing gorgeous inventive baroque sounds on lute and viol, and also from Richmond, Gill Page and Paul Leigh of Trouvere giving a whistle-stop tour of 20 medieval musical instruments in 20 minutes.

Guests will be invited to become Friends of Richmond MayFest, to make a donation or to become personal or corporate sponsors.
