Wet weather didn't dampen the Christmas spirit as families flocked to Northallerton's Christmas Event in spite of the poor weather with a constant stream of visitors to Santa's grotto throughout the five-hour event.

It was organised by Northallerton Town Council in collaboration with volunteers from the community and other local organisations. For visitors there was a series of entertainment and shopping events to try out. These included Santa and Santa’s grotto, donkey rides, fairground attractions, an entertainment stage with several choirs serenading the crowds with carols and Christmas songs.
