Soldiers march for their wounded comrades

TROOPS from North Yorkshire put their best foot forward and walked the entire length of Hadrian's Wall, raising funds for the Help for Heroes charity.

Soldiers from the Infantry Training Centre, at Catterick Garrison, completed the 84-mile trek over a four-day period earlier this month.

Organisers are still counting up donations, but are hopeful that the final figure raised will run into the thousands.

Exercise organiser Major Greville Ramsay said: "People in the garrison area have been fantastic with their donations."

He added: "All the proceeds will be sent to Help for Heroes which is raising funds for Selly Oak Hospital and the Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court in Surrey, where wounded servicemen and women are sent to recover.

"These wounded men and women are our comrades, and we want to support them in their battles towards rehabilitation and with rebuilding their lives."
