Darlington’s Majestic Theatre's half-term pantomime, Goldilocks and the Three Bears runs today and tomorrow.

This beloved fairy-tale pantomime has a modern twist as audiences will meet their favourite characters, but in a new light.

The characters of Goldilocks, who, with the help of her mother, Dame Honey Pot and their other circus friends, must save their circus from an evil rival.

Hayley Warters, business director at The Majestic Theatre, said: “Rehearsals have been really good and we’re really looking forward to the first show on Friday. There’s a really nice dynamic because we’ve got cast members from previous shows and some new people too.

“It’s a new version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears where Goldilocks is running her own circus and she ha to find a new act to keep the circus going. It’s a bit like what’s happening with the theatre industry really because she has to find a way to bring people into the circus.

“She comes across the three bears who are a talented trio for the circus and a rival has come to town to shut down the circus.”

Hayley is playing the comic, Goldilocks’ brother Sunny who is a cheeky chap and causes mischief and The Majestic Theatre's Sarah Oakland is once again returning to the stage.

A student of Warters Theatre Academy, which operates from The Majestic Theatre, is making an appearance in the show. 11-year-old Lola Smith is playing Baby Bear.

There will be five shows over two days, and the pantomime is a great opportunity to keep children entertained during the half-term break.

Tickets for adults cost £10 and £8 for concessions.

The Majestic’s panto-fun doesn’t end there as there is an adult panto planned for Wednesday, March 8 which is sure to be filled with cheeky jokes.

An Easter pantomime is also in the works with Alice in Wonderland planned for April 14 and 15, with a ‘kids go free’ offer if tickets are booked before February 28.
