THE INAUGURAL VLB/JM equestrian ODE series was held at Hall Farm, Stockton by permission of Mr and Mrs P Baker, last Sunday.

The weather was kind with a sunny day, although windy.

The series, aimed at encouraging confidence in both riders and horses was well-received with competitors ranging from experienced event riders with young horses or horses needing a confidence boost, to riders taking part in their first one-dayevent.

The cross country course rode well, with few failing to complete this section. Organisers Vicki Brown and Janice Mews received many positive comments through out the day.

Cross country course designer Ian Brown said: "I intend to extend the course and add more fences at each event but will keep it encouraging and rider friendly."

The series is well-supported by an array of local businesses, with the profit from sponsorship donated to the ILPH. The next event in the series is on Sunday June 2, schedules are available on line at vlb-broomfield.co.uk or jmequestrian.co.uk.
