THE first weekend of April will be an amazing weekend for Bedale and Aiskew Runners.

The club is hosting a 48-hour endurance event for club members to raise funds for MND. The aim is to have one of the 50 volunteers on the course at all times over the weekend, running 1000 miles to raise a target of £4,800 .

In addition, Karen Alford is running her first Marathon des Sables, running 251km in six days through the Sahara desert. Karen has endured Covid which has affected her training, but has been supported by club colleagues on training runs, many of which have been done in heat suits to replicate the conditions she will face.

The same weekend, club members are also competing in the Paris and Manchester marathons along with the London landmarks half marathon.

A Harries spokesperson said:"This is an amazing display from such a small club, but one that supports all its runners and its local community."
