THE Zetland Hunt Pony Club's main camp was again held at Raygill Farm, Lartington from July 22 to July 28.

Robert and Adam Wall kindly provided 23 stables for the campers and their horses and ponies.

The weather this year was a little more varied than the hot summer of the previous camp, with a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers, but the club carried on under the protection of a marquee.

There were three rides and instructors Hayley Pattinson, Sally Richardson, Vikki Dennis and Karen White, were very impressed by the standard of their riders and how much progress they made during the week. Angela Curry was the stable manager keeping them all in order.

The annual rounders match against the Braes was held at Houghall College, where two large teams battled it out before a good supper.

David Jukes brought the Zetland Hounds on the Tuesday evening, while the Wednesday was spent at Adrenalin NE Ltd, where the campers climbed poles to conquer their fear of heights and also completed an assault course under very wet conditions.

The accumulator show jumping took place on the Wednesday evening, with Charlotte Crowe-Harland first on her pony Fozzy Bear.

Di Peat, president of the Zetland Hunt branch, presented the following trophies. - Senior best horsemanship: Harriet Noble; Senior Victrix Ludorum: Rebecca Neil; Junior Best Horsemanship: Charlotte Crowe-Harland; Junior: Victrix Ludorum, Lucinda Elliott; Good Manners Cup: Davina Vigors; First Time Camper: Kate Swinbank.

The morning of Saturday July 28 was spent joining both Main and Mini camp together for some fun and games and showjumping.

Main camp riders went home at lunchtime leaving 24 riders for Mini Camp to continue their camp at Raygill.

They had the best of the weather for their four rides. Their instructors were Sally Richardson, Gee Zissler, Jen Bainbridge and Viki Dennis, all under the watchful eye of Barbara Elliott.
