CONTRARY to drama and misinformation, Redcar has a fantastic beach and many attractions.

Mr Wilby (HAS, Aug 8) unfairly states that Redcar beach hasn’t been cleaned for years and that it is the only attraction revealing he has not researched his comments.

The past two weekends Redcar has not only seen the extremely popular nationwide Party on the Beach music events but has attracted many tourists out enjoying the weather.

Great for the local economy and shows just how popular and busy Redcar is as a visitor destination. Most beaches in the world are subjected to litter varying with the season.

Litter is left by visitors, brought in by the tide, fishing vessels and industry. However the beach is cleaned and raked regularly.

A different day, time or part of the beach may have left a different opinion.

What I find bewildering is The Northern Echo’s insistence on printing unresearched, negatively attention seeking letters that harm the economy.

After all this is your home too.

In this instance The Northern Echo know full well the efforts made in Redcar through voluntary and authority work this past five years having reported on it many times over.
