Woodland fire

A FIRE crew from Thirsk dealt with a blaze in woodland at Boltby. The crew was called at 9pm on Sunday night to extinguish the fire which covered a 15m x 3m area of woods off Paradise Road. It is believed to have been caused by a camp fire that was left unattended.

Memory cafe

A MEMORY cafe for people living with dementia is taking place at East Thirsk Community Hall, off Hambleton Place in Thirsk from noon to 2pm on July 19, There will be activities run by trained staff and volunteers as well as specialist advice and support on offer. Cost £5 per person.

Youth club

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help set up a new youth club in Northallerton. North Yorkshire Youth is aiming to form the club and seeking people who can help run it on a rota basis. Contact Clare Yates, youth development manager, on 07918-767101.

Choir concert

THE Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, is singing at Ampleforth Abbey on July 18. The choir has been one of the most renowned representatives of the British choral tradition since it was founded in 1441. It starts at 8pm and admission is £27, under 25s £13.50. Summer fair

ALL Saints Church, Kirkbymoorside, will host a summer fair in the Memorial Hall on July 28 from 9.30am to 12.30pm. It will include a bottle stall, jams, pickles, plants, books, jigsaws, home-baked cakes, raffle and a tombola.
