Open prison

HAMBLETON District Council is reminding residents that it is hosting an open day tomorrow to allow visitors to see the recent archaeological work at the site of the former Northallerton prison. It runs from 11am to 3pm, with the last admission at 2.30pm. Entrance and exit is from the Crosby Road side of the site, not the original gatehouse.

Music man

MUSICIAN Claude Bourbon is playing at Grewelthorpe village hall on July 21. Claude is known throughout Europe and America for guitar performances that take blues, Spanish and Middle Eastern stylings into new directions. Care gift

THIRSK Community Care has received a cheque for £1,000 from a local man who was inspired to skydive for the charity by his wife after she was diagnosed with dementia. Alan Garside made the donation t after his wife Ann was diagnosed at the age of just 57.

Little Alf

AUTHOR Hannah Russell, who wrote the Little Alf pony series, will be at the Globe community library in Stokesley on August 7 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. She will be talking about the mischief Little Alf gets up to. Admission free.

Firm raided

BUSINESS premises on Binks Close in Northallerton were burgled overnight on Wednesday. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.
