THE fantastical folklore of mythical serpents, magical witch hares and a black dog said to haunt one of the region's beauty spots will be brought to life in through art.

Fine art and concept art students from Teesside University were inspired by the landscape and stories from the North York Moors and Tees Valley, leading them to create pieces ode to the landscape.

Artwork, which is part of the Great Exhibition of the North's 'Inspired by' programme, will be shown in a gallery at the Moors National Park Centre in Danby, North Yorkshire, with fine art on display between July 9 and August 8, followed by conceptual art between August 10 and August 28.

Lewis Robinson, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Teesside University, said: “They are using such a wide variety of different media – there are sculptors, painters, printmakers, photographers, film-makers – which characterises the nature of fine art. It’s going to be really interesting and exciting to see that mix in one space.”
