CEREMONIES and flag-raising services are taking place across the county to celebrate National Armed Forces Day.
Hambleton District Council marked the beginning of celebrations for National Armed Forces Day - which takes place on Saturday - by raising a special flag on Monday.
Council members and staff were joined by veterans, civic dignitaries and forces personnel from RAF Leeming and Northallerton Air and Army Cadets to see the armed forces day flag raised at the Civic Centre in Northallerton
Sqn Leader Crispian Archer - padre at RAF Leeming - addressed the gathering and guests were treated to a flypast by Hawk aircraft from 100 Squadron.
Hambleton District Council chairman David Blades read out a tribute"Our Flag" and said it was “a huge privilege” to honour the forces.
He said: “Hambleton District Council is committed and proud to support the nations Armed Forces, veterans and cadets, especially those who continue to serve the community in such a professional and committed way.”
