THE tables were turned this week for the chefs and waiting staff at a North Yorkshire luxury hotel and restaurant to mark a national celebration day.

To mark National Waiter’s Day, held on May 16, the kitchen team at The Wensleydale Heifer, in West Witton, near Leyburn, decided to treat their waiting staff colleagues, inviting them to put their feet up and enjoy a meal and drinks served by the chefs for a change.

David Moss, owner of the Wensleydale Heifer said: “Chefs are often the people who get all the accolades and attention in the restaurant industry, but without excellent waiting staff, guests would not have that high quality experience that we want it to be for them.

“They are the people who take care of guests directly, ensuring they have the best meal possible."

“We have 18 members of our waiting staff team and they’re vital parts of the restaurant’s success. To celebrate the extremely important role they play, we decided to let them put their feet up, enjoy some lobster and wine and be served by the chefs for a change. It’s fair to say they thoroughly enjoyed it!

“We value all of our team highly, from our eight chefs to the housekeeping team, receptionists and of course, the waiting staff. Every single person works really hard every day to make sure our visitors have the best possible time they can while they’re here.”
