MORE schools across North Yorkshire have improved their Ofsted ratings since 2010.

According to the latest figures, 28 more schools in the county are currently rated good or outstanding by Ofsted compared with 2010.

North Yorkshire schools are also set to see a funding boost of more than £7 million in 2018-2019 under the Government’s new funding formula.

It has been developed to end historic inequalities and will mean that for the first time, funding will be based on the individual needs and characteristics of each school.

This is in on top of additional central funding streams.

North Yorkshire pupils are also achieving better results, with the proportion passing all components of the English Baccalaureate rising by seven per cent since 2011.

Ripon MP Julian Smith said: “Our teachers do a fantastic job, and it is a testament to their hard work, combined with the government’s reforms, that more children in North Yorkshire are gaining the knowledge and skills they need to succeed – whatever they choose to do.”
