A REFUSAL to grant planning permission for an equipment storage building in Brompton has been overturned.

Hambleton District Council rejected the plans to create a tack and tool store with a hay loft at The Workshop property on Stokesley Road, Brompton, due to the visual impact it would have on the rural surroundings.

However, a Government planning inspectorate has overturned the decision and allowed the development subject to conditions.

Concerns had been raised by objectors that the building would be used for business purposes, resulting in increased traffic to the site, but planning inspector John Dowsett said there was “no substantive evidence” to suggest that would happen.

He concluded that the building would be well screened and not harm the countryside’s character.
