RESIDENTS of a new housing development in Northallerton have come together to raise funds for life-saving equipment.
There are already two Community Publicly Accessible Defibrillators (CPADs) in Northallerton, but residents at the north end of town would not be able to reach them quickly when the Lowgates level crossing is down.
Caroline Young, a Castlegate resident, spearheaded a drive to bring a CPAD to the new community.
With support from the likes of the Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club, the Ambulance service and the landlords of the Willowbeck pub which hosted events, the CPAD has been bought.
Ms Young said: βItβs something you hope is never needed, but with a defibrillator and Community First Responders close at hand our neighbourhood is in safe hands if needed.β
