A SPECIAL event dedicated to a popular BBC action crime drama is promised to be “a party like no other”.

The Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton is honouring the success of Peaky Blinders – set in the aftermath of World War One.

Organisers have done their best to keep details under wraps until the event, which will be held on Easter Sunday (April 1).

Three bands have been booked who will be performing famous theme song Red Right Hand by Australian rock group Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

There will also be a professional photographer, and party-goers are promised lots of whisky, ale, gin and rum.

Lisa Cessford owns Chapterz hairdressers in Northallerton which is playing host to the event.

She said: “We have tried our best to keep it hush hush and provide a lot of surprises on the night.

“There have been many events related to Peaky Blinders but none are going to compete with ours. This is something very different for Northallerton.

“We can’t wait for it to come together. We promise people will get more than their money’s worth.”

It is hoped visitors will take on the character of returning war hero Thomas Shelby – the star character in the BBC 2 gangster drama set in Birmingham.

With over 250 tickets sold already, those interested in getting their dancing shoes on are urged to get booking.

The event is open to people aged 18 and over, and tickets are £12. They are available from www.peakyevents.uk
