A SMASH hit stage show, which celebrates the career of a musical legend, is to visit North Yorkshire on a nationwide tour.

Cilla and the Shades of the 60s’ will entertain audiences at The Forum in Northallerton on February 24.

Victoria Jones will take on the leading role, along with West End singers The Shades.

The show starts with the discovery of the teenage singer at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club and features many of the biggest hits of the 1960s by artists including Cilla, Dusty, Lulu, Tina Turner and the Beatles.

Her successful career as a pop singer during the 60s and 70s led to her becoming the UK’s most popular TV presenter with ‘Cilla’ and ‘Blind Date’.

Victoria Jones, who grew up in Liverpool, said: “I knew Cilla as a TV presenter but when I discovered her music I was amazed by her vocal range and her emotional depth.

“Performing as Cilla gives me the opportunity to celebrate the sound and fashion of a generation of amazing women.”
