AN award-winning duo who run a cheese business from their home have added another accolade to their collection.
Husband-and-wife team Allison and Jonathan Raper, of Rokeby, near Barnard Castle, have been running the Teesdale Cheesemakers for just over a year.
And despite not knowing how to make cheese before, the duo have racked up several awards, their latest being a gold award for their Teesdale Goat.
The semi-soft ripened cheese was named among the winners at the 30th annual World Cheese Awards in London last year, which had more than 3,000 entries from 35 different countries.
Mrs Raper said: “I was looking for feedback on our cheese, how we could make it better.
“When you make your cheese in the utility room and mature it in the garage you don’t really expect to win anything at an international level. We were blown away when we got the result.”
