A COMMUNITY art centre has launched its Spring 2018 programme.

The Witham, in Barnard Castle, has released the shows it will be hosting from January until May including live music, dance, visual arts and a new Pay What You Decide Scheme to support all in accessing theatre.

The folk season will include the vocal harmonies of Emily Smith and Jamie McClennan, traditional fiddle music from the Nordic Fiddles Bloc and the return of the award-winning, singer and bouzouki player, Daoiri Farrell.

Other highlights will include live theatre from the Castle Player’s, the Northern Stage and Little Mighty theatre company.

Comedy and family shows are also on offer while art exhibtions and workshops will also promise to entertain the whole family.

For the first time, The Witham has also joined the REACH project, a strategic touring project funded by Arts Council England with several arts organisations, including the ARC Stockton.

It is designed to increase both the quantity and the quality of contemporary theatre in the North-East.

The Witham, in Horsemarket, is open from 10am until 4pm Tuesday to Saturday and tickets are available from the centre's box office or over the phone by calling 018733-631107.
