A PROJECT which engages families in conservation work has been highly commended in the Park Protector Award.
The Explorers Club, in the North York Moors National Park, received a £500 grant from Campaign for National Parks as part of the award.
It offers people the chance to explore and care for the park while spending time with their family.
Tammy Andrews, of the project, said: “I am incredibly proud of the Explorer Club families and all they have achieved since the project began in 2012.
“It is a privilege working alongside such enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.
“The grant will enable us to purchase some more child size tools in order to increase the number of practical conservation tasks the families can get involved with."
The award was presented in parliament on Wednesday.
