HARRY Potter fans are in for a treat next year - when one of the villains of the stories has an appointment in North Yorkshire.

Josh Herdman n played Gregory Goyle - one of Draco Malfoy's henchmen - in each of the blockbuster films, and this week he confirmed he would appear at next year's Sci-Fi Scarborough event.

Josh is currently filming the latest version of Robin Hood in the United States and convention co-organiser Steve Dickinson said the actor would be the first of many announcements.

He said: "Josh is a great guy and really looking forward to coming to Scarborough. We have some amazing guests lined up for 2018, and a few surprises, we are so busy preparing a show to remember."

Next year will be the fifth time the event has been held at the Spa Complex over Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22, with guests, authors, movie and TV props, console, retro and tabletop gaming, comic book artists, indie films, "cosplay" competition, panels, software developers, a geek pub quiz, live music and collectible traders.

Tickets are on sale now from scarboroughspa.co.uk box office or Mojo’s Music Café on Victoria Road, with day tickets costing £15, £5 for under-12s and £10 for students. Weekend tickets cost £25, and under-fives go free.
