A TRIP to the theatre will feel like a trip the hairdressers when an interactive show is performed at a North venue next month.

London-based Uchenna Dance will bring The Head Wrap Diaries to The Witham, in Barnard Castle, on Friday, October 6.

The hall will be transformed into a hair salon where actor-dancers Shanelle Clemenson, Sheila Attah, Habibat Ajayi will combine dance, theatre, storytelling and comedy to explore their characters' stories and relationships with hair. The soundtrack by Kweku Aacht features the sounds of 1990's RnB to traditional Ghanaian pop music.

On the night there will be a hands-on pre show installation and post show head wrap bar with wraps for sale, new artwork, photography, dolls and examples of afro textured hair. Audiences can learn and share ways of tying head wraps and with their own fabric or pieces provided.

Sarah Gent, The Witham Marketing Manager said "We are very excited to see The Witham transformed into a hair studio for the night and to the experience that Uchenna have in store. "Highlights Rural Touring scheme bring fantastic theatre to rural locations and this will be a night not to be missed in Barnard Castle."
