A FAMILY-run dance academy is celebrating a successful year after pupils achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in all exams.

Students at the Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy, based in and around Richmond, sat two sets of exams in three months.

They were examined in tap, ballet, modern, street and freestyle dance.

Two pupils have also secured parts in the pantomime The Wizard of Oz which will be performed at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, for a month over the Christmas period.

Established in 2010, the academy has grown in recent years operating from venues in Ravensworth, Catterick, Richmond and surrounding areas.

The expansion continues in September when extra lessons begin in Richmond Operatic Society, Bargate and Hipswell, Catterick.

Hazel Richmond, founder and principal, said: “Our team of teachers are highly experienced, fully qualified and dedicated. We pride ourselves on having friendly classes which enable all of our pupils to reach their full potential.”
