A VOLUNTEER centre has received a £500 donation to support its work in the community.

Stokesley and District Community Care Association has received a £500 donation from homebuilder Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, who are currently building homes at Stokesley Grange.

The cash will go towards the running of its volunteer centre, which helps local groups and organisations who need to recruit volunteers.

Kay Hayward, manager of the volunteer centre, said: “We have 69 organisations registered with our centre, 20 of which are small local groups. Over the last year 41 new volunteers have been placed into positions that will help provide services in our local communities and this donation will help us to continue our work.”

The volunteer centre is one of the many projects that the Community Care Association provides in and around Stokesley. Other projects include community transport and visiting, lunch groups and craft clubs.

It also has links with a number of other local organisations and groups including Stokesley Rotary and the Alzheimer’s day centre.
