MAJOR changes to post office services in parts of North Yorkshire are being proposed and residents are being asked to have their say.

The Post Office is planning to introduce a mobile service at Morton on Swale where the post office closed, in 2014, the office at Finghall is being closed from August 24 after the resignation of the postmaster, with a mobile service introduced on September 8.

The postmaster from Bedale is covering the new mobile services which will offer banking and post office services. The changes will mean alterations to existing mobile services at Leeming, West Witton and Middleham and the Post Office is asking residents to see how the changes will affect them and comment in a public consultation up to September 19. Comments can be mailed Freepost to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, or the Customer Helpline on 08457 22 33 44

Kenny Lamont, Network Operation Manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the communities of Morton on Swale and Finghall, we have been working hard to identify solutions to restore and maintain services to these local communities. We are confident these proposed Mobile services will meet the needs of these local communities. This is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
