A TOWN’S play park has been renovated in time for the summer holidays.

New play equipment at Bullamoor Memorial Park in Northallerton has been installed following a project by Northallerton Town Council to improve the play area.

The park is situated next to the town’s Friarage Hospital and is popular with young families and visitors to the hospital.

The overhaul has resulted in the addition of new play equipment including a “multiplay” fixture, a basket swing and a “flying saucer”.

The equipment was supplied by North Yorkshire firm Streetscape and it was reopened earlier this month.

Mayor of Northallerton, Councillor John Forrest officially reopened the new park with young people from the town, who immediately put the play equipment to good use.

He said: "It's a vast improvement to the children's play area. Everytime I walk passed there's somebody using it.

“We hope this leads to many more years of enjoyment for residents and visitors.”
