FIFTY farmers met at Scotch Corner on Tuesday to discuss how both the uplands and livestock industry can be re-defined post-Brexit.
The seminar, run by the CLA, aimed to find out how farmers view Brexit issues and how they are making plans and changes to their businesses to succeed outside the EU.
Dorothy Fairburn, CLA North regional director, said: “Farming remains the main enterprise for the majority of land-based rural businesses and faces a period of dramatic change.
“Breakthroughs in research and technology have the potential to change the way farming is done. Economic challenges are requiring farmers to change their businesses, whether it be through farming in new ways, taking greater control of the supply and marketing of their products or adding complementary businesses to their portfolio.”
