STAFF from North Yorkshire's police and fire services are now working together at a new site.

A shared police and fire transport and logistics hub has been created in Thirsk, the first of its kind in the county.

It consists of vehicle workshops, supply sections and offices and has replaced the fire service’s old workshops and supplies section which were based in Northallerton.

The fire service's head of technical services, Simon Garnett-Spence, said: "The contractors and the technical team worked very closely with staff from both organisations to deliver a well-designed working space which will enhance our ability to service/repair vehicles, provide essential equipment and effective support."

“This is the first collaboration of this scale we have undertaken with the police and we are looking forward to further opportunities to work together.”
