A VILLAGE is drawing on its collective creativity to create a trail of weird and wonderful scarecrows for a popular festival.
Appleton Wiske, near Stokesley, will be staging its annual celebration on Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2, when front gardens will be filled some imaginative scenes.
There will also be a treasure hunt for children with prizes, a miniature scarecrow-making stall and refreshments in the village hall including homemade cakes and scones. Hotdogs and hamburgers will also be available.
Last year’s creations included depictions of Shakespeare, a fortune teller, Spiderman and Holly Willougby and Phillip Schofield.
An art exhibition will be staged in the village’s chapel and church, where quilts made by local residents will be on display. One handmade quilt has been donated as a raffle prize. Other prizes include handmade silver jewellery and a decorated cake.
Parking is free and entrance is £2 per adult and free for children.
