A NORTH Yorkshire veterinary practice has just taken delivery of a new £12,000 digital X-ray machine.

Mount Veterinary Group has bought the technology to replace outdated equipment at its surgery in Middlecave Road, Malton.

It will be used to diagnose fractures, abdominal problems and can also be used to find foreign objects that pets have accidentally swallowed.

The digital images are clearer and can be sent straight to referral vets if specialist advice or knowledge is needed, for a quicker and more accurate diagnosis.

Vet Tanya Fielding said: “We are delighted to add this new piece of equipment to our practice.

“The digital images are much clearer than the ones we previously used and with the ability to send them straight to referral vets and other staff members, means that we can make a much quicker diagnosis.

“The old images were sometimes too dark or too light to see clearly and we would need to retake them, however the new X-ray allows us to adjust the light on the screen which makes for a much quicker process.”
