AN AUTHOR is celebrating the paperback release of her twelfth romantic novel - but says she has no intention of quitting her job at her local convenience store.

Author Jane Lovering may be one of the UK’s leading romantic writers - with a multi-book publishing deal and two novels about to be released by Norway’s biggest publisher - but she can still be found on the checkout of the Co-op in Kirkbymoorside in Ryedale.

The North Yorkshire writer has just had her latest book, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, released in paperback, five years after her debut title was crowned Romantic Novel of the Year.

The book, published by Choc Lit, tells the story of heroine Willow, who after inheriting a substantial sum of money, finds money doesn’t always bring happiness. She penned the fictional adventure whilst also working as a customer team member at her village Co-op.

The mother-of-five, originally from Devon, said: “Many customers refuse to believe that I am a published author but I do try to assure them that stock-taking and novel writing are not mutually exclusive occupations.

“One of the keys to writing enjoyable stories is creating characters with real-depth and working here is a fantastic way to observe people as they go about their daily business. I absolutely love working at the Co-op – we’re a close knit community and I’ve had huge support from locals who want to buy a copy of my latest book.”

Co-op store manager, Nigel Brass, added: “Jane is incredibly modest about her ‘other job’ as an award-winning novelist. We’re really proud of her and it’s fantastic to see her latest book on shelves. Our regular customers are huge fans of Jane’s work and they are thrilled to have one of the UK’s leading romantic writers working in their local Co-op.”

This year will see two of her books being translated and published in Norway by the country’s biggest publisher, following a nine book deal between Choc Lit and Norway’s Cappelen Damm.

In addition to working at the Co-op, Jane also has a first-class honours degree in creative writing and is a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association.
