A WORLD-renowned chart-topping trio who count Prince Charles among their legions of fans is swapping Las Vegas for an auction house in the Yorkshire Dales.

The Three Degrees, whose hits include When Will I See You Again and Take Good Care Of Yourself, will don their trademark glamorous gowns for a performance in the market town of Leyburn, in October.

The group, which kicked off 2017 as a headline act at the 9,500-seat Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas valley, will visit for the town with a population of around 2,200, which has two markets and a range of independent stores for the first time with a concert at Tennants' Garden Rooms,

The vocal group currently holds the world record for the longest running female vocal group in history and have released more than 50 singles over a 44-year career.

They are famously adored by Prince Charles who booked the trio for his 30th birthday celebrations and for his pre-marriage party to Princess Diana in the 1980s.

A total of 15 women have performed as The Three Degrees over the decades and the line-up performing at Leyburn features original member Helen Scott and Valerie Holiday who joined in 1967 and played their part in some of the band’s greatest hits.

They were joined in 2011 by Freddie Pool.

Angela Hunter, of The Garden Rooms' events team, said the reality of such a legendary act performing in Leyburn has created a buzz about the town.

She said: “We are very excited to be bringing something different to the area.

“I don’t think there has ever been anything like this in the area before, certainly not as far as I know.

“We were looking for something special for autumn and we wanted something to attract people and we thought about soul music and its lasting popularity.

“We have contacts with a company in Leeds and they said that The Three Degrees were touring and it went from there really.”

The venue is going all-out to make The Three Degrees feel at home by adopting an American Diner theme for the restaurant for the evening where concert-goers can enjoy a pre-show meal.

The trio will be backed by a full band.

“I think it will be a fabulous stage show,” she said.

“We are certainly going to go all-out to make it an absolutely fabulous, glitzy evening for everybody.”

The group are performing on October 13 and tickets start from £20 with a variety of packages available.

The venue holds up to 600 people and tickets are available from tennantsgardenrooms.com or call 01969-621146.
