TWO HUNDRED guests enjoyed an afternoon tea in the sunshine.

The event, held for the first time, was to make full use of the marquee hired for Leyburn’s Beating Blood Cancer Ball.

After enjoying a welcome drink and perusing some of the stalls, the ladies sat down and listened to Julie Moffitt of the Wensleydale branch of Bloodwise. Formed in 2012 now after a great deal of hard work and effort they have raised more than £130,344 for the charity.

Trisha Stewart then related the well-document story of the Calendar Girls and finally Nicki Sadler from Get Ahead Hats rounded off the entertainment with a demonstration of how to wear a hat correctly.

Spokesperson for Bloodwise, Hazel Oliver, said: “It was nice to have an excuse to dress up and all the guests enjoyed the afternoon immensely. I think we may repeat it next year.”
