VISITORS to Northallerton should keep their eyes peeled in the coming week as dozens of furry friends will be hiding around the town centre.

Northallerton and District Lioness Club is celebrating a special anniversary and launching a 'lion hunt' to mark the occasion.

Between May 25 and June 3 an assortment of cuddly lions will be hidden around the town and visitors will be encouraged to seek them out.

The event is part of the Lionesses' 40th anniversary celebrations.

The Northallerton Lioness Club has been running since 1989, but this year marks the 40th anniversary of the formation of the first ever club in Pontefract in 1977 which laid the foundations for later clubs to form.

To celebrate this history, the Northallerton Lionesses will hold an Anniversary Ruby Tea Party in the Town Hall and the Market Square on Saturday, June 3 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The group wished to thank all the businesses that are supporting the events.
