A CARE home came together to celebrate the 101st birthday of resident Edna Frost.

Residents and staff at Hambleton Grange care home in Thirsk joined forces to host a special tea party for Mrs Frost, who turned 101 last month.

The event was a quieter affair than the previous year when Hambleton Grange went all out to celebrate Edna’s 100th birthday, with a race day-themed party and a real horse joining in the action.

Mrs Frost was born in Strensall, on the outskirts of York, in the middle of the First World War as the eldest of three daughters.

She was educated at Strensall School and regularly attended the Methodist Chapel there.

After leaving school, she went straight into service, first at Ampleforth and then at Strensall where she stayed until her retirement.

Mrs Frost married Reg Frost and they set up home in Clifton where she lived until she moved to Hambleton Grange nearly three years ago.

Home manager at Hambleton Grange, Julie Roper, said: “We love a party at Hambleton Grange and always make birthdays special for our residents, whether it be a milestone birthday like 100 or not.

"Edna had such an amazing party last year so she just wanted something low key this year, but she still got spoilt rotten!”
