A POPULAR delicatessen is seeking its customers help as it strives to win a prestigious national award.

Hunters of Helmsley has been nominated for the second year in a row as Best Independent Retailer in the North of England in the Great British Food Awards.

The winner will be decided by public vote and Hunter’s has strong competition from five other northern businesses including two in North Yorkshire; Fodder in Harrogate and Keelham Farm Shop in Skipton,

Hunter’s owners Christine and Chris Garnett are proud to be in the running after coming highly commended last year.

Mrs Garnett said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for a second year in these prestigious awards.

“We were over the moon to get a highly commended last year, especially when it’s such a tough category.

“It’s very telling that three of the five finalists for the North of England category are based in North Yorkshire – we have such a wonderful tradition of good food, we’re very lucky.”

People can vote via greatbritishfoodmagazine.com/awards until July 17.
