A NORTH-EAST country house hotel is about to undergo a £350,000 refurbishment.

Hardwick Hall Hotel, near Sedgefield, County Durham, will benefit from a major facelift which will see the bedrooms, bars and boardrooms redecorated, along with a new look to one of the hotel’s leading function rooms.

Plans are in place to spend £150,000 on the hotel’s Coleman Suite, which can take up to 400 guests.

The room will be redecorated and new carpets will be fitted while the existing furniture will be replaced.

The four-star hotel – part of Ramside Estates – is set in Hardwick Country Park and has 51 bedrooms as well as an acclaimed Rib Room Steakhouse and Grill.

Lee Kirtland, general manager at Hardwick Hall Hotel, said: “We are very excited about this renovation which we are sure will be appreciated by our guests.

“It means that there will be even more reason to visit Hardwick, no matter if you are an overnight guest, popping in for a drink or a meal or if you are hosting a wedding or a business conference with us.”

The hotel, which is just a short drive from the A1 (M), is renowned for holding large scale balls and events, including the popular Lobster Ball which attracts more than 1,000 guests.

Work is set to start immediately on the refurbishment and is expected to take around three months until completion.
