TEESDALE businesses came together during a glittering awards ceremony to celebrate the annual Teesdale Business Awards in Barnard Castle on February 15.

The Teesdale Business Awards 2016 was organised by the town’s Enterprise House and had more than 200 nominations for the annual celebration which showcases the best of Teesdale business activity recognising Teesdale businesses, social enterprises and individuals that have been successful in their own field of activity.

Business Advisor, John Atkinson and Teesdale Businesswoman Emma Hignett hosted the evening, while the keynote speaker was Sara Davies, founder of Crafter’s Companion, in Newton Aycliffe.

The 12 categories ranged from Best Business to Most Innovative Business.

One of the organisers, Peter Dixon, said: "It was a wonderful evening with lots of positive comments about the ceremony itself and the diverse nature of business in the Teesdale area.

“Sara Davies of Crafters Companion delivered an inspiring key note speech on how she set up her own business and the concepts of whether it is luck or just hard work that gets you ahead.

“Individuals, social enterprises and commercial businesses were honoured during the evening.

“It is always a pleasure to see young people such as Young Entrepreneur winner, Katie Barker, and Apprentice of the Year, Gus Rowell, being highlighted for their short but valuable contribution to business activity in Teesdale. Both of them nearly didn't make the event because they had planned to be working!"
