A TUDOR inn is to undergo a £1million transformation to ensure it is fit for the future.

The Golden Fleece in Thirsk is to close for almost three months from March 6 to enable the work to take place.

As one of the oldest coaching inns in England, the property, will undergo a complete refurbishment of its restaurant, bar and accommodation.

Hotel manager, Neil Doogan, said: “As a much loved, iconic local landmark, we wanted to maximise our prime location to ensure we are known as the go-to-place in Thirsk for family-friendly, relaxed all-day dining.

“The next eleven weeks will see major work conducted on the property to breathe a new lease of life into the historic coaching inn, whilst maintaining its Tudor architecture.

“The plans look fantastic and we’re very excited to be introducing our new Eatery and Coffee House concept, which will see the addition of locally sourced produce, contemporary twists on traditional favourites plus our popular sharing menu.”

The inn will be also be recruiting more staff in April.
