NORTHALLERTON Town Council is once again seeking nominations from the town’s residents for Honorary Citizenship.

The citizenship scheme recognizes people who have gone out of their way to improve the town.

Nominations can be made for anyone who has lived in the parish for the greater part of their life, or has committed a considerable proportion of their time voluntarily and beyond their work commitments to benefit the population of Northallerton.

Honorary Citizenship has historically been awarded mainly to people in the public and charitable services, however, nominations can be made for anyone so long as they are still alive.

Suitable nominees could include people who have benefitted the town in any way such as enhancing leisure, sport, business, churches, education, the arts, the environment and animal welfare.

Nominations must be made on an official form available from the Northallerton Town Council and it has to be signed by two parish residents.

Forms are available from the Town Hall and for more information contact 01609-776718 or enquiries@northallertontowncouncil.gov.uk

Nominations must be marked ‘Private and Confidential’ and should be submitted to the Town Council clerk no later than March 10, 2017.
