LOVE is in the air for a Catterick Garrison couple after a woman received help from around the world to send love to her husband on Valentine’s Day.

Sarah Dagg, 28, wanted to do something special for husband Daniel to celebrate their first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple.

She sought help on Facebook to create a collage of photos from across the globe, and Mrs Dagg asked anyone who saw her message to take a picture and post it from wherever they were in the world.

She was left stunned when photos poured in from friends, family and strangers across four continents.

“I wanted to see how many I could get,” she said. “I sent messages family and friends and then Mike, Daniel’s brother, posted a status on Facebook and I got loads. “

“It took me three weeks and the first photo I got was from a friend in Australia.”

Mrs Dagg received 37 images from across Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States.

She said: “Thank you so much to everyone who helped me out and made this so beautiful from everywhere.

“All this time and effort that people have put into it to do that for us, it’s just lovely.

Mr and Mrs Dagg have been together for 14 years and married at Blackwell Grange in Darlington last August. They have three children, Nathan, 10, Luci, nine, and Connor aged three.

To keep her Valentine plan a secret, some members of the family chose to delete or block Mr Dagg on Facebook so he wouldn’t find out.

Mr Dagg, 30, was both shocked and surprised. He said: “On Sunday night I got a friend request from my mum on Facebook. I asked her why she deleted me but she told me it was a secret.

“I even tried to bribe the kids to tell me what was going on but they weren’t having any of it and were really good.”

The Sunderland supporter’s favourite picture was one that came from close to home and his heart – from the Stadium of Light, posted by his aunt, Bev Dixon.

Mrs Dagg admitted that as a couple they have not previously made a fuss about Valentine’s Day - but as it was their first as husband and wife she felt it was time to do something special.

Mrs Dagg, head housekeeper for a Catterick hotel and Mr Dagg, a fleet controller for Europcar, are childhood sweethearts who attended Richmond School.

“He was my school bully,” joked Sarah. “He used to trip me up when I was walking down the bus. He was nasty but I just really liked him. I followed him around. I really liked him but he was my friend for a year.”

Mrs Dagg has had all the Valentine pictures put together in a poster, and has thanked Max Spielmann in Darlington to help her create it.
