YOUNGSTERS donning high-visibility jackets and hard hats have taken a tour of a housing development to learn about the building process.
Around 40 pupils from Yarm Primary School in Spitalfields were guided around the Leven Woods site managed by Barratt Homes in Green Lane, Yarm.
Pupils spoke to traders working on-site and learned about various aspects of construction, including health and safety on the building site.
Gary Burgum, site manager at Leven Woods, said: “We always work to support the communities that we’re building in to give something back and we’re keen to encourage more young people to consider a career in construction to ensure we have enough skills to support the sector in the future.
“It was a pleasure to take the pupils around our site and to see just how engaged they were throughout the day.
“It’s important for young people to realise that there is so much more to construction than bricks and mortar and we certainly showed that on the day.”
